Bring the heritage and energy of New Orleans to your tables with easy-to-prepare Zatarain’s Red Beans and Rice Mix. Follow these kitchen-simple steps for each method.
1. To a large pot, add 12 cups of water, ¼ cup butter or margarine and contents of pouch. Stir thoroughly.
2. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally.
3. Stir, cover and reduce heat to low. Let simmer for 18 minutes (a low bubbling action should be visible).
4. When rice is cooked, remove from heat and let stand covered for 5 minutes.
5. Before serving, stir gently to fluff and mix.
1. In a full metal steam pan, add 12 cups of boiling water, ¼ cup butter or margarine and contents of pouch.
2. Stir thoroughly, and then cover tightly with lid or foil.
3. Place into a preheated 400°F oven and bake 35 minutes or until rice is cooked.
Stir occasionally. Sauce will be thin but will thicken as it stands.
4. When rice is cooked, remove from oven and let stand covered for 5 minutes.
5. Before serving, stir gently to fluff and mix.
Cover and store in refrigerator. Reheat in saucepan with small amount of hot water to steam. For best results reheat in microwave oven.
