Deliver big, bold flavor with our twist on fried okra using McCormick Culinary® Blackened Seasoning. Marinated in buttermilk and tossed in a classic cornmeal dredge spiced with Blackened Seasoning, okra is fried until golden brown and served with Blackened Ranch sauce for dipping.
16 oz Okra, Stems Removed and Cut into 1/2" Pieces
Procedure
Blackened Ranch
Combine all ingredients in bowl, whisk to combine. Hold for service.
Crispy Okra
In a bowl add okra and buttermilk. Stir to combine and allow to sit for 15 minutes.
In another bowl, combine all dry ingredients except for the second 2 tablespoons of Blackened Seasoning. Remove excess buttermilk from okra and transfer in batches to the dry mixture. Coat evenly and shake off excess. Once all okra is coated, place on a baking sheet with a wire rack. Place into the fridge for at least 15 minutes or until service.
Service
Set fryer to 375°F and deep fry the okra until golden brown and crunchy, about 2-3 minutes. Drain well and toss with remaining 2 tablespoons Blackened Seasoning. For each portion, serve with 2 oz of Blackened Ranch for dipping. Serve immediately.
